Born August Wolf 1848 in Holstein, Germany according to the 1880 US Census. His parents on his marriage license are John Wolfe and Margaret Bachman Wolffe. Other spellings of his surname have been "Wolf", "Wolffe" and "Woulf", at this time it is not known which spelling was correct. He was married to Susanna Kirschner in Seward, Nebraska on May 20, 1876 and had 7 children. Bernard, Ernest, Dorothy, Pearl, Freida, Albert, and Caroline. Around 1900 he had his name legally changed to Carl Wolmer ( see newspaper account below).

Nebraska State Journal Friday July 6, 1900 "PERMISSION WAS GRANTED AUGUST WOLF TO CHANGE HIS NAME TO CARL WOLMER YESTERDAY IN DISTRICT COURT. THE PROCEEDING WAS TAKEN BECAUSE IT WAS NECCESSARY ON ACCOUNT OF PROPERTY INTERESTS."

Carl Wolmer divorced Susanna and relocated to Spokane Washington.

The 1910 US Census shows him living alone in Spokane Washington and working as a teamster.


CARL IS BURIED AT GREENWOOD MEMORIAL TERRACE IN SPOKANE.
HIS BIRTH DATE IS LISTED AS OCT-1848
AND HIS WIFE SUSANNA WAS THE INFORMANT.
HIS GRAVE IS IN LAWN 21 SECTION 19 SPACE 52.

AGED MAN IN FOUND DEAD

C.A. Wolmer, age 72, was found dead in a small shack in the yards of the Great Western Fuel Company yesterday afternoon by some employees of the company. According to Deputy Coroner A. C. Baker death was due to natural causes. Mr. Wolmer had been working at the yards and when he did not appear for work yesterday the employee went to the shack and found him lying on his bed. He had apparently just died. He has a son living in Spokane. The body is at Hasen-Jaeger's.
