DOVER -- Marie S. Hardin, age 90, formerly of Millersburg, passed away Thursday evening, Aug. 4, 2011, at Park Village in Dover, following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church of Millersburg, with Father Stephen L. Krile officiating.

Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg.

Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.

Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church of Millersburg, 379 S. Crawford St., Millersburg, OH 44654.

She was born Dec. 3, 1920 in Millersburg, and was the daughter of William and Tillie (Rambacher) Straits. She married Bill Hardin and he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1968.

Marie was a 1938 graduate of Millersburg High School. During the war she worked for Hoover Industries in North Canton, where she was an administrative assistant to the president of the company. After the war she worked as a court reporter for the Holmes County Court of Common Pleas. In 1960 she worked as a court reporter for Tuscarawas County Court of Common Pleas, retiring in 1990. She enjoyed working as a tour guide at the Victorian House and was involved in the Holmes County Historical Society. She volunteered as a poll worker and also for the bloodmobile. Marie was on several golf leagues at Briar Hill and played in several bridge clubs. She enjoyed reading, knitting and traveled extensively.

She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church of Millersburg.

Surviving is a son, Thomas (Kathleen) Hardin of New Philadelphia and a daughter, Ann Patricia Hardin of West Lafayette; two grandchildren, Megan Hardin of Cleveland and Brendan Hardin of New Philadelphia; a sister, Marcella (Don) Kaser of Millersburg; and three special nieces, Connie McMichael of Wooster and Mary and Bonnie Gallion, both of Killbuck.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Straits; a brother, John Straits who was killed in World War II; and a brother, Francis Straits.
