US Congressman. Elected to represent Michigan's 2nd District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1933 to 1935. He was defeated as a Democrat in 1934. Also served as Candidate for the Michigan State Senate for the 11th District in 1906, was defeated as a Democrat in 1908, Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from Michigan in 1936, and United States District Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan from 1936 to 1947.
