Duane Adams, 79, of Greenwood, Ind., formerly of Golden Gate, died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, August 24, 1997, at his home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ellen Moore United Methodist Church in Fairfield with Dr. Wesley Duewel officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Ellery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion.

Memorials can be made to the Gideons.

Adams was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Wayne County, the son of Thomas and Elsie (Bailey) Adams. He married Helen Louise Shepherd Aug. 8, 1939, in Golden Gate Parsonage.

He was a retired farmer and a member of Gideon Society, Southeastern Illinois Council of Men for Missions and Ellen Moore United Methodist Church in Fairfield.

He is survived by his, wife; one son, Roy Melvin Adams, of Normal; one daughter, Peggy Irene Saum, of Greenwood, Ind.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James.
