Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles" Reuben was from Limestone Plantation, Maine, and enlisted on October 13, 1864, as a pvt. He was drafted into Co. G, 20th Maine Infantry Regiment on that same date. He mustered out on July 16, 1865.

In the 1850 census, his birth year is listed as 1835. He was living at home in Freeport, Cumberland County, and was 15 years old. Other members in the household were his parents, William Chase (52) and Lavinia Chase (51), Geo H. (17), and Margaret A (13).
