Mick was the son of Levy & Emma Belle(Boardman) Slagleand was born in Aten, NE. When he was six, his family moved to a farm near UTica, where he attended Fishbeck School one year. His family moved to St. Helena, NE, where he finished his schooling.

He was inducted into the Army July 1, 1941. He served in Europe and was in the Army for 52 months, 27 of those months were in England, France, Belgium, and Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He worked for the Chevrolet dealership in Yankton for 39 years as a service manager.

He married Jean Sheldon in May 1947. They had three children. She died in May 1968.

He married Colleen McManus Lyngstad May 27, 1972 in Mayfield. He lived with her on the farm for 17 years before moving to Yankton in 1989.

He worked at the Broadway Car Wash for the last nine years. Mick was a life member of the Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post #791, The Elks Club, The Elks Bowling League and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife Colleen, Yankton, a son, Milford (Tom) Slagle, Jr., Brighton, CO, two daughters: Jean (Dennis)Frieden, Dardanelle, Ark, and Judy (Dan) Sovereign, Norfolk, NE; nine step children; Robert (Marilyn) Lyngstad, Volin; Kay (Steve) Ellis, Yankton; Tom Lyngstad, Vermillion; Mary (Curt) Svarstad, Irene; Dan (Jolene)Lyngstad, Irene; Janet (Doug) Bak, Irene; Tim(Lori) Lyngstad, Edwardsville, KS; Judy Lyngstad, Yankton, and Lisa Lyngstad, Sioux Falls; five sisters, Susan William, Mitchell, Mary (William) Willman, Yankton;Gloria (Willis) Sheldon, Yankton; Olga(Wally) Toupal, Lesterville; and Lola McGinnis, San Jose, CA; and two brothers: David (Louise) Slagle, Yankton; and Levy (Mary) Slagle, Julesburg, CO.

He had 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 21 step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, two brothers and an infant sister.

Funeral services are at 10:00AM Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, with Rev. James Bream officiating. Burial is in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Yankton, with military graveside rites by the Earnest-Bowyer Post #791.

Pallbearers are Daniel Slagle, Jeremiah Steffen, Joshua Steffen, Levy Slagle, Robert Slagle, James Slagle, Shawn Ellis, Eric Svarstad, Wes Lyngstad, Matthew Lyngstad, Michael Lyngstad, Derek Bak, and Riley Lyngstad.

Visitations will be 1-9PM on Sunday at the Kostel Funeral Home, Yankton, with a rosary at 7PM followed by a scripture service at 7:30PM.
