Bertha was born at the James McNall Burns farm in Hanover Township, Washington County, PA. She married Raymond Pittinger McMillan on 15 May 1939, at the First Presbyterian Church, Frankfort, PA. Bertha and Raymond McMillan had one adopted son, Raymond Burns McMillan (Fag #51803209). During her life, Bertha lived in Crafton, Hookstown and finally in the Presbyterian Home, Pittsburgh, PA, where she died. She was educated in the California State Normal School (now California University of Pennsylvania) in Washington County, PA, and taught in western Pennsylvania schools.
