Update - July 2023 - According to Find A Grave member Robert Dutton (49198447) Hannah was the child of George and his first wife Elizabeth Dutton . George and Elizabeth were married 5 September 1835. Elizabeth died 22 January 1848 of consumption (Massachusetts, U.S., Compiled Birth, Marriage, and Death Records) which states that she was born in Newbury Massachusetts.

On 29 March 1849 George married Sophronia Carleton Berdge/Bridge - a second marriage for both, her maiden name was Peabody.

Sophronia's first marriage was to Samuel Freeman Bridge on 24 May 1835 (North America Family Histories for the Peabody family).

In the 1850 Federal Census we find Hannah with her parents - George and Sophronia (step-mother) living in Newburyport Massachusetts where he is working as a harness maker. Children listed are : Hannah Ash age 12, George Ash age 9 so born about 1841, and Susan Ash age 6 so born about 1844 (both children from George's first marriage). In addition we find Adalaid Burgh age 12 so born about 1838 and Isabella Burgh age 6 so born about 1844 (both children from Sophronia's first marriage).

Hannah's brother George is buried to the left of Hannah.

I have not found a Find A Grave memorial for Hannah's mother or father Here is what I do know about her father George Ash :

Births in Newburyport MA and Massachusetts, U.S., Town and Vital Records indicate he was born 7 April 1812 in Newburyport Massachusetts - father Nathaniel mother Betsy. Note : In the lists of births on this page there are many children born to Nathaniel and Betsy (eight from 1800 to 1813) as well as to Nathaniel and Elizabeth (three from 1810 to 1816). It would take a family member to figure out if Betsy and Elizabeth are the same person.

In the 1840 Federal Census we find a George Ash living in Newburyport Massachusetts. He is most likely the Free White Persons - Males - 20 thru 29 (only 1 is enumerated). There are only two other people enumerated, so the question is where is Elizabeth ? - she might be with her parents as she gave birth to George around this time. The children enumerated are one female under 5 (Hannah ?) and one female 15 to 19 years of age.

In the 1855 Massachusetts Census we find Sophronia living in Groveland Massachusetts with her two children from her first marriage (Adalaide and Isabella) - BUT - George is not listed and her marital status is not given.

I assume that George died between 1850 and 1855.
