Second Lieutenant Bush was killed in the line of duty while serving as a Navigator with the 9th Bomber Squadron of the 7th Bombardment Group, 10th Air Force. B-24J Liberator #42-78686 departed Tezpur, India on a gasoline delivery mission to Hsinching airfield at Chengdu, China. The aircraft struck some hills while attempting to land in poor weather and exploded on impact, killing the five man crew. Missing Air Crew Report № 14730.
He is the son of Mr. George Y. & Mrs. Margaret {Meers} Bush of Pekin, Illinois, and is a 1942 graduate of Pekin H.S., and he attended Purdue University in Indiana, and a short time later enlisted in the Air Corps. Lt. Bush trained in Mississippi.
