Dorothy H. Rasmussen, 92, of Sioux City died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Harvest Morningside Nursing and Rehab Center following a brief illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Donald Rasmussen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Dorothy H. Rasmussen was born July 13, 1910, in Beresford, S.D., the daughter of John O. and Winifred (Rasmussen) Miller. She attended country school in the Beresford area. She moved to the Sioux City area in the early 1930s.

She married John C. Rasmussen on Nov. 8, 1934, in Sioux City. He passed away in 1960 in Sioux City. Dorothy worked as a nurse's aide at St. Joseph's Hospital in Sioux City from 1959 until 1975, when she retired. She had been at Countryside Retirement Home in Sioux City since 1997. Most recently, she had been a resident at Harvest Morningside Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was a former member of Whitfield United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Sioux City Senior Center. She enjoyed going to rummage sales.

Survivors include three sons and their spouses, Jack and Glenda Rasmussen of Lakeside, Mont., Larry and Stephanie Rasmussen of Kent, Wash., and the Rev. Donald and Sue Rasmussen of Burnsville, Minn.; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Jim Munger of Urbandale, Iowa; a stepson and his wife, Robert J. and Betty Rasmussen of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Lorraine Staum of Elk Point, S.D.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Miller; and a sister, Margaret Finn.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
