Leona May Zumwalt, 72, pioneer resident of Tulare passed away at the family home at 132 South C Street early this morning following a protracted illness.
Deceased was the wife of William Taylor Zumwalt pioneer resident of Tulare. She had made her home in Tulare for the passed 42 years coming directly from her native state of Illinois where she was born on November 2, 1858. She was a lifelong member of the Christian church and took an active part in the work of the local institution.
Besides her husband deceased is survived by a son W. W. Zumwalt of Tulare; a daughter Mrs. Etta M. Black of Los Angeles and a sister G. N. Zumwalt of Oakland.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Goble parlor with Rev. J. L. Snyder of the First Christian church in charge. Burial will be made in the local cemetery.
