Burleson - Travis Monroe Strength, 82, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, as well as a retired Bell Helicoptor dispatcher, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004, at his daughter's home in Rainbow. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 29 in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel of Fort Worth. Burial was at Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Travis was born to the late Roger and Sally Minshew Strength on December 11, 1921, in Milford. He married Thelma Jewel Ray in Hillsboro on February 22, 1947. He retired from Bell Helicoptor after 25 years' service. Travis enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed traveling on vacations and to Tank Battalion reunions. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Travis was a member of First Baptist Church of Burleson for over 40 years and a member of Burleson Masonic Lodge. He was a family man in many ways that will be missed greatly by all those that knew and loved him. Travis was one who was always there to help someone in need. He was an inspiration to many. Travis was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Sidney Strength.
