John Oppie, son of James Oppie and Wilhemina; b. Aug. 19, 1798, Bridge Point or Rocky Hill, N.J.; married Ann Van Arsdalen Nov. 20, 1822; daughter of Christopher B. Van Arsdalen and Sarah DuMony and sister of Peter C. Van Arsdalen, who married his sister, Ann Nancy. She was b. June 29, 1797; d. Oct. 29, 1831, Bridge Point, N.J. John and Ann are bur. in Belle Meade, N.J. Cemetery. As they both died fairly young, their only child, James, was brought up by his Van Arsdalen grandparents, who lived across the river from Raritan, N.J. John was a farmer.
