Funeral services for John Franklin Shadden, long-time resident of Wheeler County were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in the Twitty Baptist Church with the Rev. R.K. Whitaker officiating.
Mr. Shadden died at 10:45 p.m. Monday at the age of 84 in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Clois Jolly, in the Twitty community.
He was born May 14, 1877 in Ladonia, Texas, and had lived in the Twitty Community since 1921.
Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Clois Jolly, Twitty, Mrs. M.C. Burgess, Wheeler and Mrs. Tom Forrest, Lubbock; two brothers, Arthur, Lubbock, Nugent, Weatherford; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Barker, Wolf City, and Carry Shadden, New Mexico; eight grandchildren and five gread [sic] grandchildren.
Burial was in the Shamrock Cemetery under the direction of Richerson Funeral Home.
