HANNIBAL - Mattie P. Abbey, 76, of Quincy, Ill., died at 1:27 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2002, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. The Rev. Brian Stone will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from noon until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Abbey was born Feb. 6, 1926, in Huntington to Jessie Mae Scott.
She was married to Everette W. Abbey. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include seven daughters, Rose Martin and Charlene Tredwell, both of Springfield, Ill., Barbara Stemmons, Viola Raymond, Sylvia Abbey and Tonya Abbey, all of Quincy, and Diane Abbey of Peoria, Ill.; five sons, William Abbey, Richard Abbey and Mark Abbey, all of Quincy, Sam Abbey of Peoria and Thomas Abbey of La Salle, Ill.; three brothers, Albert Williams of Quincy, and Merial Abbey and Owen Abbey, both of Hannibal; five sisters, Lucille Tate and Evelyn Manley, both of Quincy, Pat Marshall and Bonnie Clay, both of Rock Island, Ill., and Kay Bollard of Clarksville; 87 grandchildren; and 119 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to include as survivors several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Bill Abbey; one daughter, Thelma Abbey; two sisters, Marie Hawkins and Josephine Florence; one brother, Walter Abbey; and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Abbey was a homemaker and member of Harvest Outreach Center in Quincy.
Pallbearers will be Henry Johnson, Titus Johnson, Kane Crider, Brian Lewis, Ramon Nelson, Steve Stapleton and James Abbey.
