Obituary in The Onaga Herald on April 11, 1901

"At the home of her son, Fred, near Arispie, this county, on Tuesday, April 9, 1901, Mrs. Sarah E. Simon passed over to the great beyond, after a lingering illness, aged 76 years, 5 months and 23 days.

The deceased was born in Redfield, Oswego county, N. Y., October 17, 1824. She was married to Frederick A. Simon at Athens, Ohio, Nov. 5, 1851. To them were born six children, three of whom survive. The deceased children are Louis M., who died in this county; Sarah M. Herrick, who died at Neuchatel, April 20, 1880, Edward A., who died in the western part of the state.

The family moved from Ohio to Indiana, and from there they moved to Kansas, arriving at Neuchatel, Feb. 2, 1869. The husband died in this county July 8, 1881. Three children survive her-Frank L., Fred, and Mrs. Hannah R. Peattie, all of this county.

Grandma Simon was a dear, good old soul, and was a Christian woman. She was a member of the Baptist church, of Onaga. The funeral will be held to-day (Thursday) from the Baptist church, at 1:00 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. W. Taylor.
