George M. McClure, 81, retired farmer of the Pretty Prairie community 44 years, died in Grace hospital, Hutchinson, Monday after a two day illness.
He was born in Franklin county Sept. 19, 1871. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church. Besides farming, in the course of his lifetime he worked as a carpenter, veterinarian, hardware salesman, blacksmith, and inventor.
He married Mary Belle Colver on February 20, 1896 and the couple made their home first in Sterling and then in Pretty Prairie. Belle preceded him in death in June of 1930. He married the widowed Lydia Thompson on January 29, 1942. She preceded him in death in January of this year.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 in the Presbyterian church at Pretty Prairie. Burial was made in the Stafford cemetery.
Survivors are three sons, Ernest, Fresno and Ralph of Hutchinson; three daughters, Mrs. Dan J. Stucky, Pretty Prarie, Mrs. Earl H. Tinney, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Clarence Belcher, Kingman; 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren,; a brother, J. W. of Pretty Prairie, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Ewing, Pueblo, Colorado.
