This man has a confusing number of names, but perhaps the most common is Severn/Sova Lasyone. He was Apalachee Indian and on later census records his children were listed as mulatto. This was listed because the U.S. government policy at the time was to assimulate native people into the culture. This would allow native americans to buy and sell land and vote.
