Nellie Fox, 74, Steamburg native dies in her home
Nellie Fox, 74, of Woleben Road, Portland, died unexpectedly Monday, April 20, 1987 in her home.
A resident of the Portland area for the past 41 years, she was born Feb. 26, 1913, in Steamburg, a daughter of Frederick and Katie Blood Arrance.
Surviving are four sons: Frederick G. Fox and Ronald Fox, both of Ocala, Fla., Harry Fox of Fredonia, and Richard Fox of Portland; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers: Jack Arrance of Randolph, Harry Arrance of Kennedy, and Bert Arrance of Sinclairville; and three sisters: Katie Carlson of Reading Pa., Ruth Swarts of Randolph, and Lola Sullivan of Kennedy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Fox, whom she married in 1931, and who died in 1969; three sisters: Cecile Lanning, Minnie Congdon, and Lila Arrance; and two brothers: Fred Arrance Jr. and Paul Arrance.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, in Morse Funeral Home, Brocton. The Rev. Frank Scott, Tri-Church Parish, officiated. Burial was in Bunker Hill Cemetery, Steamburg.
