Sturgis --- Services for Howard William Starbuck, 73, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the F. O. Jolley Funeral Home in Sturgis.


The Rev. Harold Fitch will officiate. Burial will be in Bear Butte Cemetery.


Starbuck died unexpectedly Tuesday at his home in Sturgis. He was born May 19, 1904, at Elgin, Ill., to Freeman and Alice Starbuck.


The family moved to Blunt and later to Onida, where Starbuck lived until 1934. He married Helen G. Kirsch Feb. 16, 1934, at Deadwood.


They lived in Deadwood until 1942, when they moved to Kalamazoo, Mich. Starbuck was a maintenance manager for St. Regis Paper Co. there until he retired in 1968.


In 1972, the Starbucks moved to Sturgis.


Starbuck is survived by his widow, Helen, Sturgis; two daughters; one son, Marvin, Vicksburg, Mich.; one brother, Preston, Onida; 15 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
