Lynnette H. Walker - Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at First Presbyterian Church, Owensboro. Private burial will be in the Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6–8 p.m. Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory, Owensboro. A memorial service will also be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at Idlewild Presbyterian Church, Memphis. Mrs. Walker, 88, died Saturday, July 30, 2011, in Memphis, Tenn. She was the older of two children born in Charlotte, N.C. to Letherine Ferguson and June Jefferson Honeycutt. She grew up in Cumberland County, Va. and earned a bachelor's degree in music education from Longwood College in Farmville, Va. For 48 years she taught music and American history in schools in Charlestown, Ind., Lebanon and at Daviess County High School in Owensboro, Ky. For over 65 years she was an active leader in local civic groups and Presbyterian churches where her husband pastored in Lexington, Ky., Lebanon and Owensboro. Following the death of her husband, Lynn moved to Memphis with her daughter, the Rev. Dr. Gayle Walker, who serves as associate pastor at Idlewild Presbyterian Church. Lynn was active at Idlewild, serving in Presbyterian Women and helping in congregational care. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Dr. William G. Walker. Survivors include: children, Gayle (David) Marshall, Jr. of Memphis, William G. (Kim) Walker Jr., and their sons Benjamin and Ryan of Cedar Park, Texas; her sister, Lois DeAngelis of Tampa, Fla.; nine nieces and nephews; and many friends. Davis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
