Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug 5, at the Hogan home for George W. Hogan. Mr Hogan was a pioneer Tuttle banker & merchant. He came to Oklahoma and made the run when the Cherokee Strip was opened for settlement and claimed the homestead near Bison. He married Nellie Jackman in August 1902 at Yukon and they came to Tuttle in 1908. Before retirement, the Hogans operated a bank and later a general merchantile stor in Tuttle. A member of the First Christian church, he was born 10/1/1872 in Modesta, ILL, and passed away Thursday evening at his home. Survivors include his wife of the home, 2 sons, George W. Jr of San Bernadino, Calif, & John T. of Oklahoma City, 5 daughters, Mrs Stevie Chenoweth of Tuttle, Mrs John Cole of Oklahoma City, Mrs Grady Merritt of Nowata, Mrs Orville St Cyr of Oklahoma City, 13 grandchildren, & 10 great grandchildren. Gene Segroves officiated at the service. Mrs W.A. Vandament accompanied by Mrs D.L. Cobble, furnished the music. Pallbearers were Stevie Chenoweth, John Cole, Orville St Cyr, Grady Merritt, H.G. Merritt, Gene Watson, Joe Bobier, & David Rouch. Interment was in Fairlawn cemetery, Tuttle, under the direction of the Sowers funeral home.
