BETTY SUE SMITH EVERT, age 56, of Evergreen, Colorado passed away Sunday, November 14, 1999 at her home.

She was born in Bimble, Kentucky on September 30, 1943, the daughter ofSenior and Marie Smith. Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives.

On August 8, 1969, she married Jack Evert, who survives.

She is also survived by her children Gian Marie Gross of Mesa, Colorado, Michael Kip Evert-Burks of Santa Barbara, California, Kelli Joan Ellis of Odessa, Texas; 1 sister Barbara Jean Stringer of Monticello, Kentucky; brother Alvin Smith of Mahomet, Illinois; and 5 grandchildren.

After she graduated from the University of Denver, where she majored in Psychology, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in 1965, she went to work for the Denver Department of Social Services, specializing in adoption. She retired in 1991 after 25 years. After her retirement, she worked part-time with the Arapahoe County Department of Social
Services and the Chinese Children Adoption International, Incorporated. She was also active in the Evergreen branch of the American Association of University Women, the Kittredge Community Church, and Bible Study Fellowship.

Memorial services were held at the Rockland Community Church in Golden, Colorado on December 3, 1999 and at the First Baptist Church in Monticello, Kentucky on December 12, 1999.
