James Lindsay Bennett was the son of John and Agnes Lindsay Bennett, of Carstairs; husband of Jean Lambie Bennett, of Law.

He served in WWII as a Sergeant (Air Gunner) with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve in the 77th Squadron.

He died as a casualty of the war at the age of 23 years serving his country.
