RINGGOLD, GA - Dennis Joseph Black, 64 died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Ringgold, GA Dennis was retired from Combustion Engineering after 33 years of service. He was also retired from the U. S. Navy after 26 years. Dennis was a member at the Quitman Masonic lodge #106 F&AM and the Nellie Head Baptist Church.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Irene Black, and sisters, Bobbie Jo Jones, Nancy G. Black and Marjorie A. Wilson.


Survivors are his wife, Cindy Black; four sons, Joseph Black, Panama City Beach, FL, Philip (Susan) Black, Ringgold, GA, Eric (Miranda) Black, Hollywood, AL and Trey Williams, Ringgold, GA; daughter, Whitney Black, Ringgold, GA; sisters, Carra M. (Paul) Hamill, Ringgold, GA and Phyllis (Larry) Stepheson, Rock Spring, GA; brothers, Randall E. (Winniona) Black, Ottis L. Black and Jackey D. (Patricia) Black, all of Ringgold, GA; five grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.


Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Heath Morton officiating.


Burial will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.


The family will receive friends Saturday and Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 3239 Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, GA.
