Violinist and teacher, Margaret E. Allbritton, passed on to her reward Friday night, August 10, 2001, after a long fight with lymphoma and an intractable recovery from surgery. Born February 14, 1925 in Lucedale, Miss., she studied violin with private teachers as a child; later, she studied violin and music education at Mississippi State College for women at the University of Southern Mississippi at Hattiesburg, Miss. and at the University of Houston, Texas.

Active in music, she played violin with community orchestras and groups, taught string instrument classes in the Houston Independent School District, and was a pioneer string instrument teacher in the Clear Creek Independent School District. For most of the last 20 years, she played violin at the Sunday worship services of Friendswood Friends Church in Friendswood, Texas.

Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Adele White Eubank; her father, M. Arthur Eubanks of Lucedale, Miss.; and a sister, Mildred Moody Ware of Pascagoula, Miss.

She is survived by her husband, Sidney B. Allbritton of Friendswood, Texas; by two daughters, Rosann Allbritton (Sean) McCormick and Cydni Lynn Allbritton (Paul) Raven, both of South Bend, Indiana; by her sister, Elaine Eubanks Raedel of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and by five grandchildren, one, Sean Stokes of San Diego, Calif., and four from South Bend, Ind., John Raven and Arthur, Geoffery, and Meghan McCormick.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday evening, August 14, 2001, at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home in Friendswood, Texas. Funeral services were held at the Friendswood Friends Church chapel at 10 am on Wednesday, August 15, 2001. Interment was in the cemetery adjacent to the Friends Church chapel.
Pallbearers were John and Paul Raven, Arthur, Geoffrey and Sean McCormick of South Bend, Ind. and Prentiss Stuart of Raleigh, Miss.

Music for the service included selections by the Rainbow String Quartet beginning at 9:30 am.
