Married Miss Baltzer, they had one son, Earl Lesley Bright. Married Lydia "Eliza" McKinstry on 30 JUN 1904 in Bloomfield, Davis County, Iowa., they had four children.

James R. Bright, Novelty, Dies In St. Louis, Where He Was Spending Winter
James R. Bright of Novelty, a retired farmer, who was spending the winter with his daughters, Mrs. Margaret Rawlson and Mrs. Mary Ridings, in St. Louis, died suddenly at 5 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 15, 1955, in the City Hospital at St. Louis.
The body was brought to the Hudson Funeral Home here and will lie in state there until time for the funeral services at the Christian Church in Novelty, time for which was pending at presstime. Burial will be in the Cockrum Cemetery, south of Novelty.
In addition to the two daughters, with whom he was spending the winter, Mr. Bright is survived by a son, Ernest Bright, of Shelbyville; a sister, Mrs. Verna Marks, of Idaho and five grandchildren.
James Robert Bright, a son of David and Mary Poor Bright, was born May 1, 1870, at Novelty, near where he lived most of his life.
His wife, the former Eliza McKinstrey, and a son and a daughter preceded him in death. The son, Earl L. Bright, 47 years old, died suddenly at his home April 10, 1943, at Twin Falls, Idaho, and the daughter, Miss Anna Mae Bright, 23 years old, died in St. Louis Dec. 9, 1943.
