Shirley grew up and attended school in Worcester. On September 26, 1942 in Springfield, MA she married Hubert Skinner. Hubert was still in the U.S. Air Force which took the couple to various areas and finally to Tucson, AZ where he was discharged.

They returned to Massachusetts for a short time and in 1951, moved to California where they raised their family. Shirley was a devoted mother and was remembered for her fantastic chicken soup. She loved crossword puzzles, was an avid reader, kept up on TV soaps and loved to travel most often to visit family. She was the historian and heart of the entire family.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 58 years- Hubert of Roseburg; daughters & sons-in-law- Nina & Michael Rodell of Bala Cynwyd, PA and Sandra Crocker-Fooshee and her husband John of Myrtle Creek, OR; a sister-Barbara Brown of Worcester, MA; grandchildren- Jordan, Benjamin & Victoria Lief, Evan Crocker, Lisa Scher and Andy Crocker.

She was preceded in death by a daughter- Valerie Skinner and brothers- Milton Leavitt and Saul Jamron.

Services will be held Sunday, December 31, 2000 at noon in Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. Officiating will be Rabbi Jackie Brodsky of Ashland, OR.
