We have seen documents with his name as Smith Anthony Jacobs as well as Anthony Smith Jacobs. It seems that he must have used them both at times. With the headstone marker saying 'Smith', it would seem that is probably his actual 1st name. Smith's wife, Lucinda Workman Jacobs, has a beautiful matching stone next to him, but she did not stay in the area after Smith's death. She remarried a Mr Randall and lived near her son Spencer/Sherman Jacobs and his family in Kay County, Oklahoma near what is now Newkirk.

Samuel Jacobs, Smith's father, was married to and had 3 wives. They were Mary 'Sally' Crider, Jane Black and Mary Rudd.My search has led me to believe that Smith's 2nd wife, Jane Black, was the mother of Smith.

Smith served in the Confederate Army during the war. He and his brother, Samuel, signed up at the same time and were in the same unit.
