Warren Harding Pance, 82, of Palmyra, died Monday, February 2, 2004 in Sunshine Manor, in Carlinville, Il. He was born October 4, 1921 in rural Waverly, a son of Chester Alvin and Katie Lucille Eldridge Pence. He married Eileen F. Cunningham on January 25, 1947 in Medora, IL, and she survives.

Warren was employed at Western Cartridge Co. in East Alton for several years. He did custom baling and was a brick mason and carpenter. In 1948 he went to work at Northwestern School District in Palmyra, IL, as a bus driver, then as head of maintenance for 35 years. He had a wood shop and made many things for his family and friends.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Gail (husband Joe) Gilbert of Hettick, Nanette (husband David) Buck of Girard, two sons: Gene (wife Vera) Pence and Merle (wife Kim) Pence both of Palmyra, two sisters; Lucille Angelo McHatton and Mildred Redfern both of Palmyra; two brothers; Ray Pence and William (wife Velma) Pence both of Palmyra; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Marvin, and one sister, Bernice, in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, February 4, 2004 in Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 3, 2004, from 4 to 7 pm.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.

Memorials are suggested to Northwestern Rescue Squad.
