PALMYRA - Lester R. Quarton, 85, of Palmyra died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, on his farm near Palmyra.
He was born Nov. 24, 1919, in rural Palmyra, the son of Thomas Jefferson and Amy Josephine Love Quarton. He married Fayne E. Biven in 1940 in St. Charles, Mo.
Mr. Quarton was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Union Chapel for 64 years. He served as the South Palmyra supervisor during the 1960s and 1970s and on the county board for several years.
Survivors: wife, Fayne; son, Terry Quarton of Palmyra; two daughters, Judy (husband, Keith) Bacon and Nancy (husband, Steve) Ross, both of Palmyra; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Helma Orr of Thomaston, Ala.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Stults-Neece Funeral Home, Palmyra.
Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
