His parents had tou other children: Rosalie (born 1877 or 1879); Emil (born 1880) Albert (born 1888) and Emilie, also known as Emily (born 1881).

Edward arrived in America on June 13, 1911 via Philadelphia, PA. He became an American citizen on December 3, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois.

Edward listed his occupation as "baker" on his World War I draft card. The card was dated 1917 and he listed himself as "single."
