Mother of Local Men Dies Here
Mrs. Dora Elsie Carpenter, 86, mother of several area residents died Tuesday at the Columbus Convalescent Center. She was a resident of Seymour R1.
Born in Bucyrus, Ohio, 25 January 1881, she was the daughter of Frank and Rebecca Eichelberger Morrow. A resident of Jackson County for 55 years, she was married to Hubert Carpenter, 6 February 1906. He died in 1958. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of the EUB Church at Seymour and was active in church work.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Charles Acton, of Freetown; Mrs. Leondard Meyer and Mrs. Wilbert Ashcraft, both of Seymour; two sons, Lee Carpenter of Elizabethtown and Eugene Carpenter of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Wright of Greencove Springs, FL. and Mrs. Earl Pfiefer of Bucyrus, OH; 17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant child.
