Homer B. Aikman, 76 yr old of 120 Adams Blvd. Terre Haute a prominent retired Terre Haute attorney since 1928 died Monday. Aikman, was senior partner in the local law firm of Aikman, Ploty and McPeak from the mid-1940's until his retirement in June 1958.
A native of Dana, Ind., Aikman was a graduate of the Dana schools. In 1904 he graduated from Indiana University School of Law. He practiced law in Newport, Ind, from that time until 1928, when he came to Terre Haute.
Survivors include two sons, Pete of Sheldon, Ill and John C. Aikman of Terre Haute; two daughters, Mrs Mary Louise Duenweg of Grenwich, Conn and Mrs Barbara Bell of Terre Haute; one sister, Mrs Jane Garrish of Clinton, Ind.
Aikman was a 50-year member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and the "I" Men's Club of Indiana University. He also was a member of the Terre Haute Bar Association, Terre Haute Lodge No. 86, BPOE and the Terre Haute Exchange Club.
The body was taken to the Cross Funeral Home. Services will be held there at 1:30 Thursday with Rev Thomas Mabley officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
