Elizabeth (Weber) Oesting was the wife of Henry Frederick Oesting and a 1st generation American. Her parents were John Weber, b Mar 13, 1809 in Lanasthal, Bayern, Germany, d.Mar 31, 1884 in St. Leon, Dearborn Co., Indiana, & Elizabeth (Linkmeyer) Weber, born 1814 in New York, & d.Feb 25, 1929 in Monrovia, Los Angeles Co., CA. Elizabeth was one of at least nine children. She married Henry Frederick Oesting in 1871 in Indiana and they lived there at least until 1880. Elizabeth would have seven children, but only five were living when one of only two U S Censuses was found in 1900, which showed the family in San Diego, California, where Henry was a Merchant. Their oldest son in the home, Charles, was 26, having been born in Jan. 1874 in Indiana. He was a clerk for an Insurance agency. Annie was their oldest daughter in the home, 24 yrs., having been born in Oct 1876, also in Indiana, employed as a Bookkeeper. They next had a daughter named Laura Helena born Dec. 1880, age 20, not employed. Last of all were two sons, Harry [Harrison], age 9, b. March 1891 in California, and Raymond H., age 7, b. Jan. 1893, also in California. The only other census I could find for Henry and "Elisa" [as Henry fondly referred to her] was in 1920, which had the now elderly parents living in Tulare Township, Tulare Co., CA. with their son Harry, who was now the head of the home. He had married to Pearl A., [Cummins, b.1897] age 23, from Indiana. Harry was now a salesman of Wholesale Hay. His brother, Raymond, lived next door on a farm, raising Hay at the age of 27 yrs. Henry was no longer working and would pass away on Jan 25, 1926 in San Francisco. His remains were brought back to Tulare where he was buried at the Tulare Cemetery. Elizabeth later passed on March 29, 1930, and was buried next to him as "Mrs. Unknown Oesting" until I found her the Summer of 2011 and restored her name. In 1930, the U S Census listed Harry and Pearle living in Visalia, Tulare County where he was now a Hay and Grains broker. According to the 1940 Census, Harry and Pearle were living at 228 E. San Joaquin St., Tulare, and Harry was now a private Truck broker. His brother Raymond had married Lettie Oesting [b.1900] in 1927 and, in 1940 the couple was living on Oesting Road in Tulare, CA where they had lived since 1935, on their own farm. There were no children in the home at that time.
Their sister, Laura Helena, had married Otto Willis Donnell, [b.1878] originally from Iowa, in 1905. Otto was an agent for the Santa Fe Railroad and they lived in Redlands, San Bernardino, CA with his 6 year old daughter, Hellen Patton, [b.Calif.] in 1910. He noted on the Census that Hellen's mother was a native Californian, which excluded Laura. Hellen was not listed on any other censuses. The 1920 Census found Otto and Laura with a daughter, who would be their only child, Bernice E., b.1911 in Redland, CA. In 1920 they were living in Columbia, Muscogee Co., Georgia, where Otto was working as a hotel manager. In 1930, Otto was again employed as a hotel manager, but this time in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA. He listed himself as married, but Laura and Bernice were not on the census with him. In 1940, Otto and Laura lived in North Carolina at 9 Vaughn Apts., Gilmer, Greensboro, Guilford Co., North Carolina. Otto, now 61, was the secretary for the Hotel Association.
Bernice E. Donnell married Thomas Warters [b.1905, Georgia] and they lived, per the 1940 US Census, at 704 Yorkshire Rd. NE, Atlanta, Fulton Co., Georgia; they had lived there since 1935. Also, Thomas was an accountant for the "telephone industry". They later had 2 sons, Raymond Warters and Dr. Thomas Donald Warters, who are both alive as of Oct 2013. Bernice E.(Donnell) Warters d.July, 1986 in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia. I do not know where she is buried, but believe she may be buried with her beloved husband, Thomas, who passed Oct. 1974 in Atlanta, GA. and was interred at Fairview Cemetery, LaGrange, Lenoir Co., North Carolina, with other family members.

Bernice E. (Donnell) and Thomas Warters are my paternal great aunt and uncle. I am so grateful I have continued to find different family members and discover their life stories, per U S Censuses and other records, plus the aid of Dr. Thomas Warters and Find A Grave members.
