John and wife Rosannah were married in 1850 in Harlan Co. KY.(This was John's only marriage) They moved to Owsley Co. sometime between 1850 and 1860, then later to Jackson Co. sometime between 1860 and 1870. John served in the civil war, was a private on the Union side in the 14th Regiment, Kentucky Cavalry He mustered in on Feb. 13th 1863 in Irvine KY. and mustered out March 24th 1864 at Camp Nelson KY.
