Pfc. U.S. Marine Corps, Vietnam War-Pfc. Detmer was killed in action while serving as a Rifleman {0311} on 4-29-1967 with Co. L of the 3rd Battalion of the 4th Marine Regiment of the 3rd Marine Division. Pfc. Detmer started his tour of Vietnam in September of 1967.

He is the son of Mrs. Jodi Detmer of 5420 N.E. 22nd Terrace, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and is a 1965 graduate of Stranahan H.S. in Fort Lauderdale, and attended the Junior College of Broward County before his entry into the Marine Corps. He does leave one brother, Randy Detmer of Fort Lauderdale.

Awards: Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.
