DEATHS
Mark Ford is Dead.
Funeral service of Mark Ford was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the M.E. church in Osceola. Rev. Mr. Shawl of Neponset and Rev. Mr. Slyter of Osceola, being in charge. Burial was in the cemetery at Osceola.
Mr. Ford was found dead in bed last Friday morning. He had been in poor health and the night before his condition was considered serious. Upon consulting the coroner it was thought best to hold an inquest and this was done. The jury returned a verdict of death from natural causes.
Mr. Ford has for many years resided in Osceola. He was born near Lincolnshire, England, May 25th, 1849, and was married there and came to this country in 1887 and resided near Osceola, since. There were fifteen children born, eleven of whom are still living and with the grief stricken wife and four brothers and two sisters are left to mourn.
He was a member of the M.E. church of Osceola for 13 years and for many years served the church in the capacity of trustee. He was a carrier on the Star postal route running from Toulon to Osceola for several years until the discontinuance of the route several months ago.
A telegram awaiting the writer called us back from Chicago to hold an inquest at Osceola. On reaching that Village on last Friday we found that Mark S. Ford, an aged and highly respected citizen had been found dead in hid bed by the family early in the morning. The evidence disclosed the fact that Mr. Ford had suffered a stroke of paralysis a couple of years previous and from the effects of which he had never fully recovered. The day previous to his demise he had apparently felt better than usual, but on being called in the morning it was found his spirit had departed during the night. The deceased was the father of sixteen children, eleven of whom and the aged wife with a large circle of faithful friends mourn his death.
