Joel Ray Byrd, 79 years of age of Hemet, was born February 24, 1932 in Clark County, Arkansas and passed away August 12, 2011 at the Hemet Valley Medical Center, Hemet, CA. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was an electrician and self made handyman for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Jean Byrd in 1983. He is survived by his daughter, Vickie Byrd of Anaheim, CA., his brother, R.C. Byrd of Menifee and sisters Joyce Green of La Mirada and Loretta Smith of Bakersfield, CA. He is also survived by his very many nephews and nieces including Sharon Gaines. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 10:30 am to 12:15 pm at Evans Brown Sun City Chapel, 27010 Encanto Drive, Sun City, and Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 pm at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd. Funeral Assembly Area #1.
