"DEATH COMES TO ATTORNEY MCCOY"

"Well Known Citizen Dies at An Early Hour This Morning With Pneumonia"

"Attorney A. E. McCoy, a well known citizen and a man with many excellant traits of character, died at his home on Second street in Soria City this morning at 4:30 o'clock. Scores and scores of friends sorrowed when the announcement was made that the end came at an early hour this morning. Some five or six weeks ago Mr. McCoy had a few slight hemorrhages from his nose and believing them the symptoms of a trouble that might be serious if not corrected he was examined and treated by his family physician. He improved somewhat, but very slowly, and a day or two ago his trouble became complicated with pneumonia. In his weakened condition he was not able to offer reistance to this new-born enenmy and died. Mr. McCoy came to Gulfport from some point in the Louisiana delta 12 or 15 years ago, and having a cordial nature made friends rapidly. His acquaintance in fact extended all over the county and there were few people of any prominence who did not know him. He graduated in early life at Georgetown University in Washington, D. C.. and when Gulfport was looming up as a city destined to be a great port and commercial center, Mr. McCoy came here to fight his way into prominence as a lawyer. He had one transcending viruture - his infinite respect for a lady, never speading of one except with the profound deference he would use in speaking of his mother or sister. He was about 40 years of age and is survived by his wife and daughter, Marion. Interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery at a time that will be announced later."

"REMAINS OF A. E. MCCOY LAID AWAY"

"The remains of A. E. McCoy were laid to rest in Evergren cemetery this morning at nine o'clock beneath a wealth of floral tributes, the gifts of friends. Those who officiated as pall bearers were those deeply loved by the deceased and were C. P. Wetherbee, Jr., J. C. Ross, Dr. A. J. Price, Sidney Mize and Mr. McCarty. Father Spengler was the officiating priest."
