ALVIN PLASEK, SR. 63, of Texas City, TX passed away on August 15, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving and devoted family after a hard fought courageous battle with nasopharynx and lung cancer. Alvin was a proud Vietnam Veteran and served four tours of duty with the United States Army with the First Calvary. Alvin was a very special kind loving man who loved spending time with his family and miniature dachshund Zoe. He cherished being called Pa Pa by his seven grandchildren. Alvin enjoyed fishing, going on road trips with his family, and reading Sherlock Holmes books. Alvin retired from Marathon Oil after 39 loyal years of service when he began treatments at MD Anderson. Our hearts are aching Alvin.

If tears could build a stairway
and thoughts a memory lane
I'd walk right up to heaven
and bring you home again

We are comforted by Michael W. Smith's song "Welcome Home"

Lyrics
I can't believe that I'm here
Having to say goodbye.
And I can barely see you through
These tears I cry.
I close my eyes.

I can hear the sound
As angels gather 'round
Saying this is where you belong
Welcome Home!

There are the days that my heart aches
wishing you were here.
But I know where you are
The hurt and the pain disappear.
There's no more tears.
Welcome Home!
What a lovely sound
Angels all around
Saying this is where you belong
Welcome Home!
Welcome Home!
Welcome Home!
