Beaver Farmer 30 Years Passes in North Dakota

Herman Jacob Dies During Night Monday From Heart Attack ; Funeral Here

Herman Jacob, a former resident of this city, died at Alice, N. Dak., on Monday, August 15th at 12:30 a.m. He had been in ill health for the past few weeks and on Monday had suffered a heart attack which together with the infirmities of old age caused his death.

Deceased was born in Pommern, Germany on October 22, 1852. In 1873 he came to America, settling at Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. He was married on October 9,1874 to Caroline Mussell at Beaver Dam, Wis. He moved to Oak Ridge in Winona County and a few years later moved to a farm at Beaver and farmed there for about 30 years. In 1900, he retired, living in Beaver until 1926, when he moved to Plainview. For the past year he and his wife have made their house with a daughter, Mrs. Carl Henschel at Alice, N.Dak.

He is survived by his wife, seven daughters, Mrs. Herman Engel of Plainview, Mrs. Anna Pearson of Minneiska, Mrs. Alden Nack and Mrs. Frank Baringer of Red Wing, Mrs. Earnest Johnson of Clarissa, Minn., Mrs. Bertha Churchill of Beaver, and Mrs. Carl Henschel of Alice, N. Dak. and one son, August Jacob, of Beaver; 31 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Emma, a sister, Mrs. Henry Ihde of Aberdeen S. Dak., and a stepbrother, Carl Schutte of Chaffe. N. Dak.

Funeral services were conducted at the Lutheran church in this city on Wednesday, August 17, at 2 p.m. and interment made in the Hoosier Ridge cemetery, with Rev. Theo. Schoewe officiating.

Pallbearers were six grandchildren, Arthur Baringer of Stratford, S. D., Arthur Pearson of Minnesota City, Earl and Lester Jacob of Beaver, Ardell Engel of Plainview and Ervin Baringer of Los Angeles, Calif.

Out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the services were Mrs. Herman Jacob, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Henschel of Alice, Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gould and children of Aberdeen S. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. George Gould of Mansfield, S. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Baringer and Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Mussell of Stratford, S. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Ihe of Warner, S. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. Gust Mussell and daughter of Mankato; Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Snyder and daughter; Mrs. Alfred Zimdass and children and Jennie Jacob of Winona; Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Mussell, Mrs. Fred Mussell and Mrs. Adolph Matske of Altura; Mrs. Herbert Mollert of Elba; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pearson of Minnesota City; Mrs. Annie Pearson of Minneiska; Mr. and Mrs. Alden Nack, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Baringer, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Baringer of Red Wing; Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Johnson of Clarissa, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Engel of Rochester and Ervin Baringer of Los Angeles, Calif.
