Mrs. Howard Calkins
Westmoreland-Mrs. Bertha Calkins, 59, wife of Howard Calkins, died yesterday in the Lutheran Home Infirmary, Clinton. She had been a resident of this village 30 years. She was born in Hauto, Pa., daughter of William and Louise Zick Friberg. She attended Utica schools. In 1923 she was married to Mr. Calkins. During WW II, she was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base. She worked at Oneida Community Ltd., Sherrill, for 14 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Utica.
Besides her husband, she leaves her mother, Fort Ann, three daughters, Mrs. Bernard (June) Coyne, Mrs. James (Carol) Engel, and Mrs. Raymond (Elizabeth) Barron, a son William H. Calkins, all of Westmoreland, and a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Marie), Fort Ann.
The funeral will be at 2 tomorrow from the Owens Funeral Home, Clinton, with the Rev. Arthur Kleps officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today.
