Richard Marlin Hart, the first child of Hildred Jay Hart and Naomi Phoebe Welch, was born in Lansing, Michigan, October 24, 1929. He lived in Lake Odessa, Michigan, with his family until they moved to the home farmhouse at Hart's Corners in Tuscola County, Michigan, in 1934. One year later they moved to Howell, Michigan, where he attended high school. He had completed the eleventh grade in the Howell High School, when he met his untimely death on August 3, 1946, in Gregory, Michigan. He was electrocuted while working on the Clarence Marshall farm and the oral record differs on how the accident happened. He was carrying an electrical cord and one account has him stepping into a puddle of water and another has him falling into an open well. Interment was in the Tuscola Township Cemetery at Tuscola, Michigan.

From the Howell High School 1947 Yearbook:

"In Memoriam

Richard Marlin Hart
One of the saddest moments of our high school days came on August 3, 1946, when we heard the news that our classmate Richard Hart had been accidentally killed. Dick, as we knew him, was very talented in music and art. He had made the design for our dance programs for the J-Hop only a few weeks before. He was very active in all musical organizations. Many pleasant memories of Richard are ours and he will always be one of us."
