Jack C. Beckett Jr., 66, of here, died at 12:12 p.m. Saturday at University Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan.

He was born on Oct. 21, 1924, in Huntington West Virginia. On May 9, 1947, he married Phyllis (Joni) Bailey, who died on March 13, 1990.

Mr. Beckett was a retired industrial engineer for Philips Display Components in Ottawa. He was a member of the Ottawa American Legion, Quarter Century Club, and Ottawa First Presbyterian Church. He was a lifelong supporter of the Boys Scouts of America and was a committee member of the group. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, Mr. Beckett was a former Prisoner of War and a recipient of the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Service Award.

Survivors include five sons; David Beckett, Daniel Beckett, and Mark Beckett all of Ottawa, Michael Beckett of Houston Texas, and William Beckett of Gainesville Florida, three daughters; Mrs. Tom (Bev) Gustwiller and Mrs. Ron (Peg) Kruse, both of Ottawa, and Patti Beckett of Findlay, and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church in Ottawa with the Revs. Dean and Ellen McGormely officiating. Burial will be in Harman Cemetery, Gilboa, where full military graveside services will be conducted by the Ottawa American Legion.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at McCrate-Love Funeral Home, Ottawa.
