Countess of Nottingham

Daughter of Henry Carey, 1st Baron Hunsdon, and Anne Morgan. Paternal granddaughter of Sir William Carey and Lady Mary Boleyn. Maternal granddaughter of Sir Thomas Morgan of Arkestone, Hertfordshire, and Anne Whitney.

She married Charles Howard in June 1563, and became Lady Howard of Effingham when he succeeded to his father's title in 1573. In 1586, he was became the 1st Earl of Nottingham.

Together they were the parents of five surviving children:

Frances, Countess of Kildare, Lady Cobham
William, 3rd Baron Howard of Effingham
Charles, 2nd Earl of Nottingham
Margaret, Lady Levenson
Elizabeth, Countess of Carrick

After Katherine died, her husband remarried. Both of his wives are buried at Chelsea.
