WRIGHTSVILLE - Funeral services for Horace Elmer Blount, Jr., age 88, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown Memorial Baptist Church with interment to follow at Westview Cemetery. Mr. Alvis Richardson will officiate.

Mr. Blount was born April 17, 1919 in Washington County. He was the son of the late Horace Elmer Blount, Sr. and Maude Renfroe Blount. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Hunter Station Baptist Church in Montgomery, Ala. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his wives, Sara Logue Blount and Bobbyette Williams Blount, 2 sons Randall Blount and Wendell Blount, a brother Bill Blount and a sister Ruby Willis. Mr. Blount passed away Monday, April 14, 2008.

He is survived by three sons, Harry Blount of Monroe, H. E. Blount of Vidalia and Buddy Blount of Auburn, Ala.; nine daughers, Nancy Moseley of Macon, Delilah L. Richardson of Social Circle, Loretta Woodward of Macon, Wynette Reagan of Oxford, Margaret Duprel of Prattville, Ala., Sandra Dale Johnson of Loganville, Kaye Davila of Montgomery, Ala., Faye Kent of Covington, and Denise Hartley of Cullman, Ala.; five sisters, Nandell Claxton of Wrightsville, Louise Beasley of Albany, Sara Sumner of Augusta, Jean Bonham of Leslie and Janice Allred of Lake Oconee; 30 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
