Military Records Adams Batt'n 1812-1813 show that Andrew served in the War of 1812 in the Ohio Militia at age of 16 under General Harrison, first as a substitute for his father Stephen Dye, and then as a substitute for David Stinchcomb, his brother in law. As a soldier when volunteers were called for to take provisions down the river on rafts at night passed Indian campfires to relieve the starving soldiers in the fort until reinforcements could arrive, he stepped forward and made the trip with a few others.

Andrew married Elizabeth Martin in Miami County, OH, 7 July 1814. The family lived in Miami County, OH, then Randolph County, IN, before moving to Lee County, IA by 1840. By 1850 they were living in Grundy County, MO. before moving into Kansas Territory.

Children of Andrew and Elizabeth Dye were: Hetty, Martin, Nancy, David S., Delila, Sarah Ann, Parmelia, Belinda, Asa, and Persilla. Of these children Belinda and Persilla died young and Nancy at age 20. Delila is on Find A Grave at memorial 36578781.

Diligent research has failed to locate the burial place of Andrew Dye. Since he died in Lykins County, before it became Miami County, KS, he is likely buried in the Miami County area. If anyone knows where he is buried, please contact me, so that his memorial can be placed in the correct cemetery.
