Lieut. Charles Douglas Galloway was born at Bel Air, Maryland on August 13, 1850. His Parents were William Galloway and Eliza R. Bouldin. He received his early education at the Bel Air Academy. He was appointed to the Naval Academy by the Hon. John L. Thomas, from the Second Congressional District of Maryland, and graduated from the Academy on June 6, 1871. He was medically retired February 21, 1894 by reason of disabilities incurred in the line of duty.
He was married December 1, 1873, to Miss Anna L. Smith, daughter of Professor R. F. Smith of the Naval Academy.

Funeral services for Lieut. Charles Douglas Galloway, U. S. N., retired, who died Tuesday night at his apartments in the Dupont, will be held at noon today at St. Margaret's Protestant Episcopal Church. The Rev. Herbert Scott Smith, the rector, will conduct the services. The body will then be taken to Annapolis, Md., for burial in the Naval Cemetery.
A military escort will accompany the bier. The honorary pallbearers will be Albion K. Parris, William Waller, P. Janney Brown, Walter Hemsey, Thomas C. Wood, and Capt.'s Henry H. Barroll and William F. Halsey.
Lieut. Galloway is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna L. Galloway, and two sons, Charles Douglas Galloway Jr., and Richard Somers Galloway.
