Gerald "Jerry" Askren
Gerald "Jerry" Askren, 54, Princeton, Ind. died Sept. 16, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Ind. due to a heart problem.

He was born Aug. 2, 1946, in Fort Branch, Ind., the son of Ray and Olive (Deffendall) Askren.

Gerald married Darlene Reed on April 5, 1968, in Mt. Carmel, and she survives.

Mr. Askren was a farmer and later became a coal miner. He was a member of the Apostolic Church in Johnson, Ind. and the VFW. He was in the United States Army and served in Korea and Germany.

Surviving are his mother, Olive Askren, Owensville, Ind., his wife of 32 years, Darlene Askren, Princeton, Ind.; a daughter, Jerri Lynn Askren, Mt. Carmel; twin sons, Tommy and Johnny Askren, Princeton, Ind.; a sister, Lois Wright, Princeton, Ind.; and a brother, William Askren, Mt. Vernon, Ind.

Preceding him in death was his father, Ray Askren.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, from the chapel of Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel with burial in Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Short Funeral Funeral Home
